Crowe encourages people to access the right health service by 'Using the right door'
Galway City Councillor and General Election candidate for Galway West, Michael Crowe, has urged people in Galway to make use of the new initiative 'Use the Right door', which was launched this week by the HSE in an effort to inform people how to access the right health service for them.
“The aim of this information campaign is to help people get the right service, in the right place, at the right time,” said Councillor Crowe. “I would encourage all my those in my constituency to use this information to make an informed choices so that they get access to the most appropriate services as quickly as possible."
“The campaign highlights the importance of having a well stocked first aid kit at home, as well as making the most of your local pharmacist who can often be a great source of advice. It is of course vital that everyone is registered with their local GP and has details of their local doctor out of hours service”.
“Emergency departments are there to treat seriously ill patients, and in the A&E departments in Galway the most seriously ill patients are treated first meaning that those with minor injuries will usually have to wait longer.”
“For that reason I’d encourage those who need medical attention to think of the range of options available to them. In many cases it could be far easier and indeed faster to go your local pharmacy or GP to get the right kind of help,” he said.
